down on specific wing states it differs, some polling of actual vote in nevada and iowa that shows president obama is doing better than mitt romney in those states and those are the states that going to decide the election. >> i think that's because and this is karl rove speaking now not me more democrats ordered voted early than republicans. bret baier will be anchor next tuesday. >> november 6th. >> bill: give you a jump on it for everybody. 19 million. romney ahead by 7% in new york. some of the key swing states the president in the lead. >> right. >> bill: former penn state president graham spanier. >> spanier. >> bill: he is a weasel, right? >> certainly seems so. >> bill: looks that way. he had indications that sandusky was molesting children on the campus of penn state. >> um-huh. >> bill: he did nothing. and now he is charged with? >> perjury, endangering will the welfare of children. conspiracy. failure to report child abuse. this guy spanier in position of power, obviously the president of the university. his story was some dust up with sandusky but i was never told that

wisconsin to nevada, to colorado. both candidates are making their closing arguments. interesting. a closing argument. what is mitt romney's closing argument? his latest incarnation is that he's the guy who reaches across the aisle? >> we have to stop the dividing and the attacking and the demonizing. we've got to reach across the aisle, bring in good democrats with good republicans and finally do the people's business and put the politics behind. >> we just need to stop demonizing, don't we? well, old mittster, show leadership and pick up the phone and call mitch mcconnell. it's interesting for mitt romney to present himself as a guy who works across the aisle while president obama is being label by the tea partyers and everybody else in the right wing as nothing but the divider in chief. romney might want to pick up the phone, you know, give this guy a call, keynote speaker of the republican convention. governor christie spent the last four days praising the president of the united states in his partnership in storm preparation and response to the disaster. president obama passed, i think,

are nevada where there are six votes, wisconsin where there are ten and here in ohio, there are 18. and winning just those three of all these battle grounds gets you to 271 in a very narrow win, but that's what would do it for him and they feel very good about those three states. >> assuming they hold pennsylvania. >> that's true. that is a big point right there. >> i think there's a sense that florida might be moving in romney's direction. structurally, that's always been the most problematic of the battleground states for obama. and if i were betting, i would bet romney carries florida. >> and we're hearing from the romney side that there's a bit of a head fake there. >> it may be. what a lot of strategists have told me is if you're going to make a play for a state, you need to do it at least three weeks before election day. so one week out, not even a full week, makes it tough. it might be too little too late for mitt romney where they are spending a lot of money at this last minute. but they've got a lot of money to spend. >> it's less a head fake than a hail mary ad. if they c

the state of the race? >> well, i think that you've got about -- i don't buy the michigan nevada pennsylvania wisconsin are still in play. i don't think those outcomes are still in doubt. i think obama will win those four. we're really down to the last seven states and their 94 electoral votes and obama needs 17 out of 94 and romney needs 79 out of 94. when one candidate only needs 18% of the electoral votes in the toss up states and the other 84%, the odds are a lot better for the candidate that needs the 18% and that's president obama. so, i think the popular vote -- i think it's tied. i think we could easily see romney win the popular vote, but the electoral college i still think -- i would put a finger on the scale towards president obama. >> chris cizilla, if president obama wins, how much of an impact do you think that the hurricane and his leadership role, being seen with chris christie, you know, showing up with fema, how much do you think that may have had an impact, because it stopped whatever momentum mitt romney may have been enjoying. >> i would say i think the race

the country in the swing states, the differences are pretty dramatic. you look at nevada, for example. 11.8% unemployment. look at colorado. it has 8% unemployment. you look at some of the other swing states where the unemployment rate has been drifting lower. ohio, for example, a very big, important state on tuesday. 7% unemployment. and when you look at ohio's jobless rate you can see that it has been coming down a little bit, and the polls, john weigh in on the polls, the polls are so interesting because the most recent poll that we have the cnn/orc poll, shows obama with a little bit of a lead over romney. >> most of the polls in ohio show consistently the president between two and four points. ohio is interesting. the unemployment there below the rest of the country. so the economic argument in ohio hasn't been about good economy/bad economy. they kind of microtargeted which is why the romney campaign focused on the issue of coal for instance. hitting the issue of coal hard. >> and the microtargeting is so interesting because every state is different. it has a different economic fing
